Constructed next to an ancient Mayan archeological site by local archeologists on the Caribbean coastline of Mexico from 1984 to 1990, Xcaret Ecological Park has since become a beautiful and popular tourist attraction for those who seek a natural theme with plenty of animals and exotic vegetation to have fun with.

As the National Institute of Anthropology and History had simultaneously decided on reconstructing the Mayan pyramid remnants in the same site during the same period of which the entrepreneurs were clearing the land, Xcaret Ecological Park was fated to most professionally represent the pre Colmbian Maya theme.

With a team of the newly assigned specialists to work on the project, adding around 200 acres of land to the total settlement of the attraction area, the park had developed into a most uniqe resort, with a Mayan village atop an underground river, where people can spend their holidays.

The theme park contains plenty of fun and entertainment from coral reef aquarium and dolphins to bat cave and jaguars including restaurants, shops, spa and a hotel, all in the spirit of Mexican tradition.

Besides the nature based attractions of snorkeling, swimming, bird or deer watching, the cultural exhibits will show the visitors a replica of a Mayan village with shows, games, live performances and real artisans presenting almost all, which Mexican folklore has to offer.
