Well known for its liberal lifestyle and community, the City of San Francisco has plenty of aspects to make it one of the most visited cities in the US, as it is also 33rd on the global tourist scale.

Besides its vast cultural and ethnic diversity divided amongst its 11 districts, being the financial, cultural and transportation center of the California Bay Area and one of the world`s top production centers, the city of San Francisco is also famous for its beautiful sceneries, hilly terrains and Victorian architecture combined along with its renowned chilly Summer fog, giving its nickname, Fog City.

After being Established by Spanish colonists in 1776, the city`s true population boost came during the 1849 California Gold Rush, causing an immense rapid growth. Experiencing one of the greatest fires in history during the 1906 earthquake, the city was very quickly rebuilt towards hosting the Panama-Pacific International Exposition world fair as to later serve a port of embarkation to the Pacific Theater during World War II. The returning servicemen causing a massive immigration wave and liberalization had later funneled to spark the main scene for the hippie movement`s Summer of Love to establish the San Francisco of today, as the center of liberal activism.

Getting around in San Francisco is quite easy as is contains a very renowned and complex transportation system of buses, subways, railways and the renowned cable cars, which are one of its most famous landmarks.

Visiting attractions are mostly beneficial with using either a San Francisco CityPASS or a Go San Francisco Card, which cover at least a week worth of transportation, admissions and tours. A Wharf Pass is also available if one is visiting the Fisherman’s Wharf, which offers a 2 day pass tour and discounts for various attractions.
