The genus includes annuals, herbaceous plants, subshrubs, and small shrubs. The native range extends across the Canary Islands, North and East Africa, Southern Europe and the Mediterranean, Arabia and India. Because the cultivated forms are planted in gardens worldwide, they are occasionally found growing wild as garden escapees, well beyond their natural range. However, since lavender cross-pollinates easily, there are countless variations within the species. The color of the flowers of some forms has come to be called lavender.

Lavender is a pale tint of violet. It applies particularly to the color of the flower of the same name.  The color lavender might be described as a medium violet or a light pinkish purple. The complementary color of lavender is olive.

Greenland has been inhabited, though not continuously, by indigenous peoples since 2500 BC. There were Norse colonies in Greenland from AD 986 until sometime most likely in the 15th century. In the early 18th century contact between Scandinavia and Greenland was re-established and Denmark established rule over Greenland.

Greenland is, by area, the world’s largest island that is not a continent. With a population of 56,452 it is the least densely populated dependency or country in the world.

Nuuk is the capital and largest city of Greenland, and the seat of government for the Sermersooq municipality. It has a population of 15,469 making it one of the smallest capital cities in the world by population.

Sisimiut is a town in central-western Greenland, located on the coast of Davis Strait, approximately 320 km (200 mi) north of Nuuk. It is the administrative center of the Qeqqata Municipality and the second-largest town in Greenland, with a population of 5,460 people as of 2010.

Ilulissat is a town in the Qaasuitsup municipality in western Greenland, located approximately 200 km (120 mi) north of the Arctic Circle. With the population of 4,546 as of 2010, it is the third-largest settlement in Greenland, after Nuuk and Sisimiut.

Qaqortoq is a town in the Kujalleq municipality in southern Greenland. With a population of 3,306 as of 2010, it is the most populous town in southern Greenland, and the fourth-largest town in the country.

Narsaq is a town in the Kujalleq municipality in southern Greenland. The name Narsaq is Greenlandic for “plain”, referring to the beautiful plain on the shore of Tunulliarfik Fjord where the town is located.

Uummannaq is a town in the Qaasuitsup municipality, in northwestern Greenland. With 1,299 inhabitants as of 2010, it is the eleventh-largest town in Greenland, and is home to the country’s most northerly ferry terminal. Founded in 1763, the town is a hunting and fishing base, with a canning factory and a marble quarry.

Upernavik is a small town in the Qaasuitsup municipality in northwestern Greenland, located on a small island of the same name. With 1,129 inhabitants as of 2010, it is the thirteenth-largest town in Greenland. Due to the small size of the settlement, everything is within walking distance. It contains the Upernavik Museum.

The first mention of the Boqueria market in Barcelona dates from 1217, when tables were installed near the old city gate to sell meat. From December 1470 onwards, a pig market was held at this site; at this time it was known as Mercat Bornet. Later, until 1794, it was known simply as Mercat de la Palla, or straw market. In the beginning, the market was not enclosed and had no official status, being regarded simply as an extension of the Plaça Nova market, which extended to the Plaça del Pi.

Later, the authorities decided to construct a separate market on La Rambla, housing mainly fishmongers and butchers. It was not until 1826 that the market was legally recognized, and a convention held in 1835 decided to build an official structure.

Construction began on March 19, 1840 under the direction of the architect Mas Vilà. The market officially opened in the same year, but the plans for the building were modified many times.

The inauguration of the structure finally took place in 1853. A new fish market opened in 1911, and the metal roof that still exists today was constructed in 1914.

In addition to the gardens, the Adachi Museum of Art is also a collection of about 1300 paintings of the twentieth century and works of art. There is also a permanent exhibition of paintings and ceramics show.

Museum founder Adachi Dzenko fond of saying that “the garden, in other words, it is a scroll with a painted on it a live scenery. Passion for life Adachi – painting and landscaping – has become a garden of 165,000 square meters, to accommodate its space traditional dry garden, the garden of white pebbles and pine trees, moss garden, a garden with a pond.

By itself the gardens do not go into them all geometrically calibrated, so constructed special pavilions with panoramic windows and comfortable benches on which to sit and enjoy the harmony of nature.
These gardens are the same pictures that are not touched by hands, and admiring them from afar, leisurely contemplating them and listening to the feedback in his soul.

In March 2009, the garden Adachi was raised to 3-star – the highest award of version two of the most famous French guidebooks for tourists – Guide Company “Michelin” to “green” in Japan and Guide Bleu Japon.

Entrance to the museum is not cheap, but where the money can be seen at once – the garden, it seems, keeps the warmth of caring hands of gardeners, the ticket price for adults – 2200 yen (27 USD), but there is a discount for foreigners. Better to see once than a hundred times to read.

Because of its stunning scenery and accessibility to Papeete, Moorea is visited by many western tourists who travel to French Polynesia. Especially popular as a honeymoon destination, Moorea can often be seen in advertisements in American wedding magazines.
