<p style="text-align: justify;">Deception Island (62°57&#8242;S, 60°38&#8242;W) is one of the most incredible islands on the planet. It is an active volcano in the South Shetland Islands, off the Antarctic Peninsula. Its unique landscape comprises barren volcanic slopes, steaming beaches and ash-layered glaciers. It has a distinctive horse-shoe shape with a large flooded caldera. This opens to the sea through a narrow channel at Neptunes Bellows, forming a natural sheltered harbour. It is one of the only places in the world where vessels can sail directly into the centre of a restless volcano.</p>

<p><strong><a href="http://www.travelvista.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Trekking-in-Antarctica.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-425" title="Trekking-in-Antarctica" src="http://www.travelvista.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Trekking-in-Antarctica.jpg" alt="Trekking in Antarctica Incredible places in Antarctica for adventure!" width="550" height="363" /></a></strong></p>
<p><strong><a href="http://www.travelvista.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Climbing-in-Antarctica.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-416" title="Climbing-in-Antarctica" src="http://www.travelvista.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Climbing-in-Antarctica.jpg" alt="Climbing in Antarctica Incredible places in Antarctica for adventure!" width="550" height="412" /></a><br />
</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The West coast of Antarctica is full of mountains and these are the places for ice climbing and trekking. Full of grounded icebergs you can be proud to be the first to explore these unexplored areas. Now and then you can watch whales pass by when you need some rest.</p>
<p><strong>Largest Ice Shelf – The Ross</strong></p>
<p><strong><a href="http://www.travelvista.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Largest-Ice-Shelf-.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-420" title="Largest-Ice-Shelf-" src="http://www.travelvista.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Largest-Ice-Shelf-.jpg" alt="Largest Ice Shelf Incredible places in Antarctica for adventure!" width="550" height="440" /></a></strong></p>
<p><strong><a href="http://www.travelvista.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Largest-Ice-Shelf-1.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-419" title="Largest-Ice-Shelf-1" src="http://www.travelvista.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Largest-Ice-Shelf-1.jpg" alt="Largest Ice Shelf 1 Incredible places in Antarctica for adventure!" width="550" height="353" /></a><br />
</strong></p>

<p><strong>South Orkney Islands</strong></p>
<p><strong><a href="http://www.travelvista.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/South-Orkney-Islands-.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-422" title="South-Orkney-Islands-" src="http://www.travelvista.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/South-Orkney-Islands-.jpg" alt="South Orkney Islands Incredible places in Antarctica for adventure!" width="551" height="367" /></a></strong></p>
<p><strong><a href="http://www.travelvista.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/South-Orkney-Islands-1.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-421" title="South-Orkney-Islands-1" src="http://www.travelvista.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/South-Orkney-Islands-1.jpg" alt="South Orkney Islands 1 Incredible places in Antarctica for adventure!" width="549" height="820" /></a><br />
</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Submarine mountains link the Antarctica with these groups of islands. These are breeding grounds for Weddel seals. Nesting Penguins are found in the Coronation Island. The Laurie Island has an Argentinean meteorological station. You can look for the largest bird called the albatross in these areas and for punky Macaroni penguins.</p>

<p><strong><a href="http://www.travelvista.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/South-Sandwich-Islands-1.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-423" title="South-Sandwich-Islands-1" src="http://www.travelvista.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/South-Sandwich-Islands-1.jpg" alt="South Sandwich Islands 1 Incredible places in Antarctica for adventure!" width="551" height="356" /></a><br />
</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">These are active volcanic islands which are covered with snow and ice. These are inhospitable areas. Glaciers cover almost 80 percent of these islands. For more than half of the year they are covered with ice.</p>
